Enforced Disappearances in Balochistan in December 2024 – TBP Report

For over two decades, Balochistan has been plagued by the deeply troubling issue of enforced disappearances. While the Pakistani government denies any involvement, activists, human rights organizations, and Baloch nationalists allege that the country’s intelligence agencies and security forces are responsible for orchestrating these abductions and extrajudicial killings. Evidence presented by these groups directly challenges the official narrative and underscores the gravity of the ongoing crisis.

In December 2024, families of the missing staged protests and sit-ins across the region, demanding answers about the fate of their loved ones. On January 25, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) organized a large public gathering in Dalbandin. Tens of thousands from across the region defied an internet shutdown and heavy security presence to participate, reflecting the growing frustration and despair of the Baloch people.

At the event, BYC leaders called on human rights organizations and the international community to take action. They demanded an end to enforced disappearances, impartial investigations, and legal accountability for those responsible. The BYC leaders emphasized that gatherings like the Dalbandin assembly not only document personal accounts of the disappeared but also expose what they described as “a systematic policy of genocide” against the Baloch people.

The BYC further argued that while other persecuted nations have received global recognition for their suffering, the plight of the Baloch warrants similar attention and urgent intervention. They called for immediate measures to end human rights abuses and ensure the safety of the region’s population.

This monthly report by The Balochistan Post documents the cases of enforced disappearances recorded in December 2024, shedding light on a human rights crisis that shows no signs of abating.
