Sirens sound across northern Israel amid an Iranian ballistic missile attack. Israelis in the area are told to go to safe rooms.
The Israeli military says air defense systems are working to intercept the missiles.
“At this time, the Israeli Air Force is operating to intercept and strike threats where necessary to remove the threat,” the military says.
The IDF says it has detected the launch of missiles toward Israel from Iran.
Sirens are expected to sound in the coming minutes.
Israelis who get an alert are told to enter safe rooms and protected areas.
The IDF Spokesperson’s Office stated: “The IDF has identified that missiles were recently launched from Iran towards the territory of the State of Israel. The defense systems are working to intercept the threat. In recent minutes, the Home Front Command has distributed advance instructions directly to mobile phones in the relevant areas. The public is asked to show responsibility and act according to the instructions – they save lives. You must enter the protected areas upon receiving the warning, and remain there until further notice. Exiting the protected area will be possible only after receiving explicit instructions; you must continue to act according to the Home Front Command’s instructions.”
