The exercise will take place at the Andravida airbase in the 117th Fighter Wing.
Starting from Monday, April 24 to Thursday, May 4, 2023, the multinational air exercise “Iniochos 2023” is scheduled to commence.
As announced by the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, the exercise will take place at the Andravida airbase in the 117th Fighter Wing.
The joint exercise will be implemented with the participating forces of the international exercise of Special Forces – Special Operations Forces “Orias 23”. The exercise will be conducted in the wider area of the Athens FIR.
The Air Force’s newly upgraded F-16 Vipers and newly acquired Rafales will participate in the exercise for the first time.
Which countries will participate in the exercise?
Personnel and means other than the Hellenic Armed Forces will participate in the multinational exercise.
– the Republic of Cyprus with AW139 helicopter and Terminal Fire Guidance Team
– France with Rafale fighter jets
– the US with F-16s, an MQ-9 REAPER Unmanned Aerial Vehicle and a Terminal Fire Guidance Team
– India with Sukhoi-30 aircraft

Indian Air Force (IAF) will be participating in Exercise INIOCHOS-23, a multi-national air exercise hosted by the Hellenic Air Force
Ex will be conducted at the Andravida Air Base in Greece from 24 Apr to 4 May 2023
IAF will be participating with 4×Su-30 MKI & 2×C-17 aircraft.

Planning, execution and debriefing of all missions is supervised by the Hellenic Air Force (HAF)

– and Slovenia with PC-9M aircraft and Terminal Fire Guidance Team
Additionally, Austria will participate in the exercise with Intelligence personnel and Canada with Air Traffic Controllers.
Delegations from 7 countries
Taking into account the significance of the “Iniochos 2023” exercise in the wider region of the Eastern Mediterranean, a number of states are planning to send delegations to monitor the exercise. The countries that have declared their intention to send a delegation are Germany, the UAE, Morocco, Montenegro, Bahrain, Slovakia, and Tunisia.
The purpose of the exercise is to strengthen international cooperation between the participating air forces. The training will be conducted in an environment that is representative of real warfare. In addition, it will enable participants to communicate in a professional environment and gain valuable insights into each other’s most effective processes.
The preparation phase began on April 18 and will last until April 23, while the execution phase will begin on April 24 and end on May 4, 2023.
