Explosions were heard in Tehran’s Pasteur district, home to the heavily guarded compound that houses the residence and office of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to Iranian state media.
The Fars News Agency reported that at least 7 missiles hit the area.
‘We will take revenge’, Iran vows
An Iranian official told Reuters that Tehran was preparing to return fire after Israel attacked Iran on Saturday, adding that the response would be overwhelming. “We will take revenge,” he said.
Trump acknowledges US lives could be lost
President Donald Trump said in a video that his military operation in Iran could cost American lives.
“The Iranian regime seeks to kill. Brave American heroes may be lost, and we may have casualties — which often happens in war — but we are not doing this for the present. We are doing this for the future, and it is a noble mission,” the president said.
He also said the US “has taken every possible measure to minimize the risk to American personnel in the region.”
