The attack at theSunjwan army camp in Jammu on Friday was planned using a Telegram ID by the name ‘Pagal Jamat’, according to the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
One security force personnel was killed and nine suffered injuries during a gunfight in the militant attack in Sunjwan on Friday. Two Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists were killed in the encounter that ensued in the Sunjwan area on Friday.
According to inputs from the Intelligence Bureau, two Jaish-e-Mohammed infiltrators had plans of inflicting mass casualties with the objective of disrupting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir on April 24.
POLICE PROBE
In their probe, the police have identified that Shafiq Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Tral, and his brother Asif were of help. They have been on the police radar for a year.
Shafiq was in touch with the JeM commanders through a Telegram ID named ‘Pagal Jamat’, according to the police. He was told to make arrangements for the terrorists.
Other accused, Bilal Ahmed Wage and his helper Ishfaq Chopan, were tasked with picking up the two terrorists from Sapwal border in the Samba sector. They have both been arrested.
Information learnt during the interrogation of the accused has been corroborated by the CCTV footage on the highway. While the police believe the infiltrators came in from Samba border, their entry point is still not known with certainty.
Security forces believe the two infiltrators may have come in from a newly found tunnel.
The case is under investigation at present. It was transferred to the National Investigation Agency on Saturday.Live TV
